Savory Mushroom & Gruyère Puff Pastry Braid

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add mushrooms and cook until they are browned and any moisture has evaporated.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet and slice the edges to create a braid pattern.
  5. Place sautéed mushrooms and grated Gruyère cheese in the center of the pastry.
  6. Fold the pastry over the filling to create a braid.
  7. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, omit any meat additions.
  • You can substitute Gruyère cheese with Swiss cheese if preferred.
